Many years back, learning how to play the electric guitar took up a lot of time in finding a good, quality
instructor. Often times, it also meant paying over the odds for electric guitar lessons and often have to incur additional costs in travelling to
guitar classes.
So much as changed over the last few years with the advent of Internet technology. Just as the technology of
electric guitars has evolved, our way of teaching has
completely transformed.
With professional online electric guitar lessons, you can now get step by step beginner electric guitar
instructions at the click of a mouse. Now, you can get quality lessons that you can learn at the comfort of your
home and convenience of your time.
One of the most common questions that I get asked is whether people should choose online guitar lessons or one
on one teacher / student classes.
My answer for this is to do BOTH if you have the time and resources. Understandably, most people would only be
able to choose one of these methods and I would usually advice students to go for online guitar lessons.
Online electric guitar
lessons that have been professionally produced with onscreen notes and multi angled cameras can give you a
perspective of understanding how to play guitar that a guitar teacher cannot give you. You are also at the liberty
of repeating or rewinding any specific parts of the lesson that you do not understand. On top of that, these
lessons are usually cheaper and cost only a fraction of what a private teacher would charge.
Learning to play electric guitar online can also enable you to progress at your own pace. In my
experience, (I had both a guitar teacher before I took online lessons with Jamplay) the guitar class was moving far too slowly and when I switched over to online
electric guitar lessons, I found myself improving by leaps and bounds.
Here's how some personal experience on my learning process. As with any standard guitar classes, I meticulously
do my weekly homework that is given to me by my physical teacher. At the same time, I set goals to learn something
new that is not taught by my teacher yet via the Internet.
For example, learning a new guitar scale for the week. Often times, I have more questions than I have answers on
how to improvise or why a particular song can break "musical rules" or whether I had formed any bad habits when
learning a new technique. With a list of questions that I have difficulties in, I approach my physical teacher for
advice or a review of what I had learned for the week.
In this process, I make full use of the fees that I pay to my physcal teacher and I also have certain control
over what to learn and when to learn.
