Things to Look Out For in Guitar Instructions
Musicians are part of a community. Even if you don’t get out much to play with other guitarists or drummers or
bassists, it doesn’t eliminate the fact that when you do meet a musician you’ve always got that common ground to
draw from; music.
Whether you listen to metal or you listen to bluegrass, we all know how much time and effort goes into learning
how to play our instruments.
And that’s why you don’t want to take any risks with your musical education, and while you might not think of it
in that light, that is exactly what you are getting each and every time that you sit down and practice; an
education.
In this article, we’ll go over some of the things that you want to watch out for in guitar instructional programs that can greatly hinder
your guitar playing.
First off, here’s a rule of thumb that you should learn to live by when it comes to considering a new
instructional purchase; if you aren’t sure, don’t buy it. If a guitar DVD set doesn’t have a decent review
on the internet outlining the product for you, unless it’s free you should pass up on it until you get a better
idea of what it is that you’ll wind up with.
When you do find a review, watch out for URL’s, as they can tell you a few things about a product before you
even read.

If a review is on a site made specifically for that single product, it is a scam made by the company of the
product. In other words, the company bought that site (or used free hosting) to get a good review out so that
people would be suckered into buying it.
This is totally unprofessional and completely unfair to the unsuspecting consumer as well. Make sure to always
check the URL of a site that reviews the product, especially if the site is covered with special promotional offers
for certain discounts on the guitar instructional
set.
Next, watch out for bad products. This should be obvious, but it is somehow worse to buy something bad of your
own volition than it is to get suckered into it. Why? Because you did it to yourself.
If a product as poor ratings and several complaints in reviews guided at the product and not the store where it
was sold or the shipper (somehow people seem to think negatively rating a product instead of the vendor when they
have shipping issues is an intelligent thing to do) don’t say to yourself, “Well maybe it isn’t so bad.”
It is.
Don’t do it, we’re telling you that if the ratings make it look that bad, it is that bad.
In the end, not getting ripped off is all about common sense. Be smart about products, and always do your
research before any purchase, whether it is a single DVD or a large set of DVD’s making up a long winded program
from A to Z. Good luck, and be careful.
